Body Fat and Modern Medical Techniques of Defining and Predicting its presence in the human body
...Body fat and the calculation of its amount in the human body has become one of the most widely used measurements by various doctors. It is done to identify the patient’s weight loss program, their food requirements, risks and other health factors. There is a number of different techniques, such as dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA), isotope dilution, and air displacement plethysmography, performed in order to study and monitor body reactions to certain changes. These techniques are often used for research work, but generally are too expensive, time consuming, and impractical for use in field evaluations, gym environments and healthcare settings (Vogel & Friedel, 1992, Swan & McConnell, 1999). A number of field techniques solve the problems, outlined above, and have the added benefits of being portable, are relatively simplistic to use and are noninvasive (Lukasaki, Bolonchuk, Hall & Siders, 1986)...
Natural gas: its advantages as the fuel of motor devices
...The human race is at the verge of eliminating the entire sector of natural resources- oil. We cannot afford to be using it in the same manner we have in the past century. Beside the fact the we are extinguishing natural resources, we are continuously polluting our atmosphere. Therefore the only answer is-alternative fuels. There is a number of fuels that could be used for cars and other motor devices instead of the usual oil. There are hydrogen, natural gases, electric fuel and fuel cell types of energy that we could use. For instance electric fuel is great for the reason of its natural pure composition thus it wont cause pollution, however, the cost associated with it is very high. Since the vehicle operates on electricity, the refuel time is high and refueling is not possible in case of power interruption. Such vehicles have lower performance than other types of vehicles. Human and animal communication systems: how do they differ?
...Humans are the only creatures on the earth known to be able to communicate using speech, in formed by air flows in our bodies. The way we form words and sounds through a complicated system supported in our bodies, we differ greatly from the rest of animal world.
An interesting parallel in terms of vocalizing actions is found in birds. The bird song is verbal and functional; part learned and part generic, (similar to humans) marks territory and courts a mate. There are also regional dialects in bird song proving it is not all generic...
Who Rules the Natural World?
...Parasites are the so called lords of the natural world, the world that humans cannot comprehend or see by the bare eye. A small example showing how these tiny creatures rule the universe would be a minuscule slug that nests deep inside the body of the crab. It resides in crab’s bottom and grows to form a lump in its shell, developing roots that spread through the whole crab’s body even its eyes. This gross invasion fails to trigger any immune response in the crab, which continues to wander through the surf, eating clams and mussels. However, if this invasion took place in a human body, the outcome would be drastic. Eventually, the crab begins to change into a new sort of a creature existing to serve the parasite. This invasion stops the crab from molting and growing as this would funnel away energy from the parasite. Crabs also lose the ability to regenerate their claw. Some parasites react to the behavior of their hosts, an interaction called social parasitism. More simply put a parasite might take advantage of the tendencies of a particular species for the benefit of its own...
