Connection of the paragraphs

A couple of well written paragraphs is not enough to constitute a well written solid essay. Separate paragraphs have to be connected to each other to form a logical chain of thought in order for the reader to understand the main idea and supporting evidence of the paper.

Each new paragraph is a representation of a new idea in your essay. There are a few tools that can help you to build a smoothly flowing piece of writing.

You can link your thoughts using special words and phrases. These words make your paper sound more natural and easier to read. They can also make sentences longer connecting two related notions without breaking them into separate parts, creating a sense of a flowing thought. You can also start a new paragraph with the same word you ended the previous one. In such a way you will phonetically maintain a sense of continuity and reader will follow your ideas more willingly.

Another way of keeping paragraphs connected is to put a question in the beginning of a new paragraph. Such alternative is designed to grab reader’s attention and focus it on the matter being discussed.

Referring to the previously stated ideas is another method of keeping the reader intact with the main theme of the paper. It will also indicate how certain points mentioned throughout the paper are connected.

Please make sure when using connection methods in your essay, that you are connecting paragraphs united by one main idea.
