Supporting Paragraph

Supporting paragraph is the essence of your essay; it contains the key to explaining your thesis. It presents information you have found while doing your research and contains evidence of your idea’s worth.

When writing your supporting paragraphs always remember why they are called “supporting”. They are designed to defend your thesis statement. You need to unite your paragraphs into a logical sequence of ideas. In separate sections you should introduce a leading idea and proceed with the explanation and informative description of it. In this manner you will be building a strong back up for your thesis.

You should remember that an individual section must have a structure of its own. Introductory and concluding sentences should be included in each paragraph to create a sense of unity and harmony in your writing. Keep to the point in your supporting paragraphs and you will find that the entire body of the essay falls into a logical pattern. Irrelevant ideas may sound good but restrain yourself from incorporating them into the text.

Following your outline try to place the strongest and most convincing paragraph in the end of the body. This way you will hold reader’s attention to the very last word. It is also possible to structure your writing in a ascending order starting from the simplest to the most complex idea. In this case the audience will be properly prepared for the culmination of the essay.
