Thesis Statement

   Thesis is the main point of your paper and the reason you are writing a particular essay. It should answer a couple of questions, such as: “What is the subject matter of the essay?” “What is the author’s attitude toward it?” “What idea is the author trying to relay to the reader?”

   You need to go through a series of steps in order to properly state you thesis. These are some of the possible steps:

• From all of your gathered information find interesting and intriguing facts and ideas.

• Think of how they can represent your thoughts and write down a few of them.

• Analyze whether there are any opposite opinions that can arise against your thesis, it will help you to clearly state your main point.

   A well thought of thesis statement possesses a couple of features:

• It should define author’s position clearly and precisely, without causing the readers to doubt which side the author supports.

•  A good thesis should meaningful

• Well written thesis has an arguable allegation

• Classical thesis is presented in the end of the introductory paragraph

• Thesis has to consist of two parts: one offering an explanation of what will be discussed and the other-how it will be done.

There are some qualities that a thesis statement should NEVER posses:

• Never be a mere listing of things you are going to write about

• Never present a thesis in the form of a question

• Never present an unclear, poorly worded and controversial thesis
